On the heels of this guidance, Ellen Kahn, the Human Rights Campaign's director of Children, Youth, and Families Program, offers advice for educators seeking to provide transgender students with a welcoming school culture. She describes key terms to be familiar with, urges educators to challenge their assumptions about gender, addresses ways to create a safe space, and suggests that educators take a collective approach to changing a school's climate for transgender students.
