Try This: Umbrella--Materials Testing
Preston, Christine
Teaching Science, v62 n2 p5-7 Jun 2016
This article is the second in "Teaching Science's" "Try This" series. These hands-on activities are designed especially for early childhood students to encourage their natural curiosity and promote development of scientific thinking. In this activity, the problem-based learning approach means that the children are engaged in a child-directed inquiry into testing familiar materials in a novel situation that is hands-on and age appropriate. This approach offers rich learning experiences by challenging and stimulating children's scientific thinking as they work through the learning process.
