Earthquakes, Accounting Theory and the Art of Flexibility
Vosslamber, Rob
Accounting Education, v20 n6 p593-596 2011
Tuesday, 22 February was the second day of the University of Canterbury (UC) in Christchurch, New Zealand 2011 academic year and the author was preparing lectures for Accounting Theory (ACCT311) in his sixth-floor office of the Commerce building when a 6.3 magnitude earthquake struck. Although no university buildings collapsed, it soon became clear that the UC campus had suffered: the Commerce, Law, and Registry buildings were all damaged, red-stickered, entry forbidden. As a lecturer the author has developed perspective on "flexible learning," which he shares in this "Postcard."
