Sing Mathematics Together: Thoughts on the Future Of a School Subject
Lenart, Istvan
For the Learning of Mathematics, v24 n2 p22-26 2004
Can mathematics survive as a school subject for "all?" Is mathematics a subject for "general education?" Has mathematics anything to say for anybody else but a mathematician or an immediate user of mathematics by profession? Or, will mathematics become a subject for the selected few who are to lead society by this mighty tool of human thought? In this article, the author encourages students to accept different approaches and different standpoints in mathematics.
