To preach is to announce the Word of God, the Good News of salvation. This announcing is not mere speech. In Dominican tradition, it is "to contemplate the Truth and to hand on to others the fruit of it," in a life-giving experience and witness. Here, the concept of "doctrinal versus practical" is presented as a harmful dichotomy; a three-fold approach for creating a contemporary theology of Christian preaching is presented; and the life of witness and the witness of life are considered.
