He settled in New York, where he completed his B.A. and M.S. in School Psychology from the City College of New York, and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from Columbia University. Dr. Tobias spent the largest part of his academic career on the faculty of the City College. He moved to Fordham University as Distinguished Scholar in the Educational Psychology graduate program. Later he was Distinguished Research Scientist, Institute for Urban and Minority Education, Teachers College, Columbia University. He is now Eminent Research Professor, Department of Educational and Counseling Psychology, the University at Albany.
