Geller, Joanna; Betancur, Maria Cristina
Voices in Urban Education, v43 p50-60 2016
Over the past two and half years of evaluating "We Are A Village," a highly competitive federal Investing in Innovation (i3) grant focused on family engagement in early childhood in Central Falls, Rhode Island, the research team at the Annenberg Institute for School Reform at Brown University (AISR) has gained much insight into the transformational process that occurs when a school system and community partners ask, "What can we do to help families feel welcome, valued, and respected?" rather than, "How do we get parents to show up?"
