The Peace and Love Generation: Changing Attitudes Toward Sex and Violence Among College Youth
Starr, Jerold M.
Journal of Social Issues, 30, 2, 73-106, Spr 74
Utilizing the conceptual framework of generational analysis, it is argued that the middle to late sixties constituted an historical period which triggered the development of a distinctive generational ideology among a substantial segment of youth in America. The increased differentiation of age roles and dedifferentiation of sex roles laid the foundation for the development of cohort consciousness and the integration of life style and political concerns that were central to the peace and love ideology.
