To Think Spatially and Environmentally, Put on Your Geography Sunglasses!
Jones, Mark C.
Geography Teacher, v13 n2 p79-81 2016
Educators need to teach the geographic perspective because spatial and environmental thinking are central to understanding how the earth changes. In the more narrow interest of helping students to excel in school, it is impossible to teach students every possible example that they might encounter on an exam. How to teach perspectives and skills is the challenge geography educators face on a daily basis. This article presents one technique that Mark Jones has used with success over most of the past decade. He has used it with high school students but feels it can also be used with college students and potentially adapted for junior high students.
