My Hesitation to Speak English
Oda, Naruha
TESOL Journal, v6 n4 p790-791 Dec 2015
Even though English was the author's favorite subject, she was not good at speaking in English, and always tried to avoid it. However, it did not matter because she did not have to speak to demonstrate her English ability. After entering university, her lack of confidence in speaking English became a major issue, and other students face the same difficulty. Schools have to provide more opportunities for students to speak English in order to improve their English communicative ability. Students also need to take opportunities to speak, because our positive actions are very important. The suggested changes by schools and students will help develop English learners' English communicative confidence.
