Demirbilek, Muhammet
Active Learning in Higher Education, v16 n3 p211-224 Nov 2015
Web 2.0 tools are becoming increasingly pervasive in higher education, and as a result, there is increasing interest in the use of online feedback activities. This study investigated students' actual experiences and perceptions using social media, Wiki and Facebook, tools to provide peer feedback on students' instructional material projects and to compare students' experiences and perceptions of using Facebook and Wiki environments as a peer feedback tool. A total of 51 students responded to the questionnaire, and 14 students were also interviewed. A combination of quantitative and qualitative methods was employed to analyze the data. Results suggest that students benefited while engaging in the peer feedback process on both Wiki and Facebook. The data also indicated that the incorporation of Wiki and Facebook as a peer feedback tool improved critical thinking skills and improvement of material produced.
