Reading and Writing for Preservice Teachers: Making Meaningful Connections
Martinez-Alba, Gilda
Strategies: A Journal for Physical and Sport Educators, v28 n6 p28-33 2015
In many states, preservice physical education teachers are required to take reading courses to obtain their teaching certificate. However, many future physical educators are not enthusiastic about this requirement. In fact, many candidly state, "I don't like reading" and "I am not becoming a PE teacher so I can teach reading." This article describes three strategies for making the content in this course more relevant and meaningful for teacher candidates.
