Batter's Choice and Differentiated Pitch Levels in Softball: A Student-Centered Approach
Olsen, Edward B.
Strategies: A Journal for Physical and Sport Educators, v28 n4 p3-8 2015
Teaching youth softball presents several challenges to practitioners. Chief among these are the mixed ability levels, backgrounds and knowledge students have of certain games. The other problem is the "one size fits all" approach to pitching and hitting. In other words, many softball units allow for only one standard type of pitch (underhand or overhand). The purpose of this article is to help physical educators to overcome these challenges by providing a practical pitching and hitting system that can be applied across all grade levels.
