Hoang, Theresa V.; Caverly, David C.
Journal of Developmental Education, v37 n2 p30-31 Win 2013
In this column, the authors discuss apps useful in developing mathematical reasoning. They place these into a theoretical framework, suggesting how they could be used in an instructional model such as the Algorithmic Instructional Technique (AIT) developed by Vasquez (2003). This model includes four stages: modeling, practice, transition, and independence. The instructional goal with AIT is to help students develop algorithms to approach different math situations.
