Flexible Learning Options: The Experiences and Perceptions of Regional Youth
Msapenda, Vanessa; Hudson, Cate
Youth Studies Australia, v32 n3 p46-53 2013
Over the past few decades a variety of alternative or re-entry educational programs have been developed in Australia as an approach to address early school leaving and promote engagement with learning. In South Australia, one of the largest initiatives has been the implementation of Flexible Learning Programs (FLPs) as part of the State Government's "School Retention Action Plan". This paper reports on findings of a study into FLPs that focussed on regional young people's experiences and perceptions of FLP's and how involvement influenced their engagement with learning and prepared them for the future. It focussed in particular on the South Australian "Flexible Learning Option" (FLO) programs.
