Construction of an Engineer's Notebook Rubric
Kelley, Todd R.
Technology and Engineering Teacher, v73 n5 p26-32 Feb 2014
It is evident that there is a need for assessment instruments that measure design and engineering design skills, knowledge, and ways of design thinking. These student assessments must be authentic to engineering design practices and measure key elements of the engineering design process. Kelley (2011) presented a rationale to include engineer's notebooks in technology education classrooms; this article features the process taken to construct a rubric to assess a student's engineer's notebook. A sample engineer's notebook rubric is provided. A bibliography is also included.
