Atta, Mohammed Mahmoud; Abd El Wahab, Shaimaa Mahmoud
Early Child Development and Care, v185 n2 p267-290 2015
This research aims at analysing technical specifications in a sample of Egyptian and French electronic storybooks (e-storybooks), to identify similarities and differences in technical specifications of children's e-storybooks and create a verified analysis list to be used for evaluation of e-storybooks. For this purpose, 32 e-storybooks in CD format 16 Egyptian and 16 French e-storybooks were selected. The researchers, through the literature review, came up with a list of standards for analysing the e-storybooks. The researchers analysed them individually and again collectively. Slight differences were found between the Egyptian and French storybooks. It was concluded that the Egyptian e-storybooks were slightly higher in quality than the French e-storybooks. This research hopefully will contribute to raising the awareness of kindergarten children educators towards the importance of taking into consideration the standards and criteria for the right selection of e-storybooks offered to kindergarten children or producing children e-storybooks according to these standards.
