In 1971, a Federal program was started to promote and assist Indians who might choose a career in health. Due to a reorganization slated within the Health Resources Administration (Department of Health, Education, and Welfare), however, this Indian program is headed for deescalization and merger with other programs for the "disadvantaged" in this country.
