How Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts Programs Prepare Students for the Workforce and for Life
Nutting, Maureen Murphy
New Directions for Community Colleges, n163 p69-78 Fall 2013
Although science, technology, engineering, math (STEM) and vocational training programs are presented as today's community college students' gateway to entry-level positions in the workforce, liberal arts instruction plays a critical role in their training, by providing these students the skills that many employers require and that make them competitive workers, ready to live full lives. These are the requisite skills, and this chapter describes some of the ways certain liberal arts programs help community college students develop and refine them.
