This article views "Music Educators Journal" ("MEJ") and the hundred years of music education it has served through the lenses of the depth and breadth of music education at the present point in the profession's history. "MEJ" has been an important component in our depth of understanding of the nature and values of music education and in the application of theory to practice. It has also played a positive role on our breadth of offerings. Yet in issues of both depth and breadth, our work has been marked by an uncomfortable level of uncertainty as to how to achieve optimal results. Our work remains incomplete, as does, therefore, the work of "MEJ" as our most prominent periodical.
