Maximising Students' Progress and Engagement in Science through the Use of the Biological Sciences Curriculum Study (BSCS) 5E Instructional Model
Hoskins, Peter
School Science Review, v94 n349 p117-126 Jun 2013
The Biological Sciences Curriculum Studies (BSCS) 5E Instructional Model (often referred to as the 5Es) consists of five phases. Each phase has a specific function and contributes both to teachers' coherent instruction and to students' formulation of a better understanding of scientific knowledge, attitudes and skills. Evidence indicates that the 5Es model is effective in helping students to achieve important learning outcomes in science. The experience of nine West Yorkshire schools provides further evidence of improved student attainment and engagement. (Contains 4 tables and 5 figures.)
