Zeroing in on Inquiry
Coatney, Sharon
School Library Monthly, v29 n4 p5-8 Jan 2013
This article describes the highlights of an Inquiry Summit held by the publisher ABC-CLIO in summer 2012. The event tackled various issues concerning inquiry in education. Topics discussed include the definition of inquiry learning, how and why should inquiry learning be integrated in teaching and learning, the best strategies for implementing inquiry in schools, and what teachers and librarians need to know about inquiry. It emphasizes that one way to begin building a focus on inquiry in schools is for school librarians to be instrumental in launching a faculty study group on the topic of inquiry learning. The article also contains a list of professional resources for understanding inquiry.
