Virtual Schools: Where's the Evidence?
Barth, Patte
Educational Leadership, v70 n6 p32-36 Mar 2013
Virtual schools have the potential to improve student learning--but so far, as asserted in this article, research tells little about how online instruction affects student performance. Most of the studies that pointed to good student outcomes were small in scale and based on specific programs or products. Few provide data to help understand whether online schooling is effective in general. Some of the most interesting data were collected and reported by news organizations rather than traditional researchers. (Contains 1 endnote.)
