Becoming Part of the Story through the Conceptual Foundations Network
Miller, Erin
Parenting for High Potential, v2 n4 p14-16 Jan 2013
It is report card time at your child's school. You are curious as to how your child is being perceived and how well the teacher is meeting his or her needs. As you expect, there is a neat line of good grades. At the bottom is written this note: "(Your child) is doing well on her school work, but she does not suffer fools gladly." What? You may recognize this, but how did it get associated with your child? What does this have to do with having a gifted child? Where could you turn for help? This article has the answer for you: the Conceptual Foundations Network of the National Association for Gifted Children. This network supports the discussion of what the term gifted means to our society. The meaning of the term gifted is changing at this very moment and will continue to evolve.
