Easier Said than Done: Leading Technology Integration
Bleakley, David A.; Mangin, Melinda M.
Journal of Cases in Educational Leadership, v16 n1 p14-26 Mar 2013
In this case, Mr. Phuture, a district administrator, attempts to lead a diverse team of educators and community members in an effort to develop a district-wide action plan for the integration of instructional technology in K-12 classrooms. Along the way, Mr. Phuture confronts ambiguities in the superintendent's directives, passionate contradicting views about the value of technology use, and disagreement about who should be involved in the decision-making process. This case provides an opportunity for the reader to reflect on the process by which education leaders establish a vision for technology integration and build support for implementation. The teaching notes at the end of the case guide the reader in diagnosing and responding to the challenge of instructional technology integration.
