The Roots Of Alienation
Bronfenbrenner, Urie
J-NAWDAC, 37, 1, 3-17, F 73
Alienation in our society takes several forms--withdrawal, hostility, or efforts to reform. The author traces the roots of alienation to our neglect of many of the needs of children, particularly their need for interaction with adults. Among his many recommendations are: modified work schedules to permit more time with children and systems for acquainting children with adults as workers. Presented at the joint conventions of NAWDAC and the American College Personnel Association, Cleveland 1973. (EK)
