Secondary School Counseling: Past, Present, And Future
Odell, Louise M.
Personnel and Guidance Journal, 52, 3, 151-155, Nov 73
The author recounts major events in the emergence of secondary school counseling as a profession in the United States. She then briefly describes present trends (group counseling, career education, and use of automated equipment) and current debates (over counselor role and label, counselor-student ratio, etc.) Issues of future concern to the profession are discussed and the prediction is made that 40,000 new secondary school counselors will be needed in the 70's.
