Studies in the Perception of Ethnic Group Members: II. Attractiveness, Response, Bias, and Anti-Semitism
Himmelfarb, Samuel; Fishbein, Martin
Journal of Social Psychology, 83, 2, 289-298, Apr 71
Non-Jewish college students judged attractiveness and Jewishness of persons portrayed in photographs. It was hypothesized that there would be a positive relationship between perceived unattractiveness and judged Jewishness, varying directly with the subjects' anti-Semitism, and that anti-Semitism related to the number of persons judged unattractive. The hypotheses were generally supported. (Author/SD)
