Reviews some recent research studies on the impact of inquiry teaching and materials upon elementary school children. Based upon the data from these studies, the authors hypothesize that specialized educational experiences in inquiry-centered science teaching encourage a teacher to become sensitive to children, functionally aware of the purposes of education, and equipped to lead children to learn how to learn in all subject areas.
