A Study of the Validity of the GRE Battery in Predicting Four Criteria of Success in Doctoral Degree Programs
Houston, Samuel H.; Strohmeyer, Eric
J Stud Personnel Assn Teacher Educ, 8, 3, 90-96, 70 Spr
Predictor variables included two Graduate Record Examination (GRE) aptitude scores, three GRE area scores, plus the GRE advanced education score. Criterion variables included: (a) grade point average; (b) graduation versus dismissal from program; (c) normative judgment analysis (JAN) rating; and (d) ipsative JAN rating. Except for normative JAN criterion, multiple correlation coefficients were all statistically significant though weak from predictive viewpoint. (Author)
