Historically, student unrest in this country started in the 18th century and continued through the 19th; in European countries the origin and direction of many universities was influenced by student revolutions. Factors affecting student unrest are: prolongation of adolescence; changing concepts of childhood, adolescence and youth; social characteristics of student life. (BR)
