An Empirical Study of the Effects of Standardizing Scores in the Formation of Linear Composites
Terwilliger, James S.; Anderson, Douglas H.
J Educ Meas, 6, 3, 145-154, 69 F
The findings of this study indicate the following: "1) The impact of standardization decreases directly with decreases in the difference between the relative proportional weights for standardized and raw scores... 2) Standardization becomes less effective as the correlation among components increases... 3) If the components are positively correlated, the effect of standardizing diminishes with increases in the number of components.
