Perceptions of the Counselor Evaluation Process among Urban School Counselors
Felder, Chaka N.
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Southern Connecticut State University
The purpose of the study was to examine the perceptions of the school counseling evaluation process among counselors and their evaluating principals in an urban public school system. Specifically, this study explored who conducts counselor evaluations, how evaluations are conducted, what competency indicators school counselors perceive as important, support and training systems for administrators who evaluate school counselors, and the evaluation rubric's alignment to the Connecticut System for Educator Evaluation and Development (SEED). The expectation is that the results of the proposed study will inform the development of an evaluation framework for school counselors that will include objectives, indicators, portfolio evidence, observation evidence, and necessary administrator support.
