A Descriptive Analysis of the 2-Year to 4-Year Criminal Justice Baccalaureate Degree Program at the Miami Dade College, School of Justice
Goodman Lerner, Debbie
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, St. Thomas University
A critical review and structured analysis of data spanning a ten-year period will be provided. The chapter submitted will present a descriptive analysis of the conversion of the 2-year to 4-year Criminal Justice Baccalaureate degree program at the Miami Dade College, School of Justice. Miami Dade College, the largest degree-granting educational system of Community College education in the United States, has the requisite infrastructure, curricula, courses, and subject-matter experts/professors to successfully offer (as research will demonstrate) the Bachelor of Applied Science degree in Public Safety Management (Grimming & Goodman, 2005). Since the degrees inception, thousands of students in the South Florida community, primarily minorities, have effectively and successfully matriculated from the 2-year to 4-year Baccalaureate degree program. Miami Dade College may serve as a model program for other colleges in the United States in the design, development, delivery, approval, and ultimately the implementation of this "work force" degree program.
