Villavincencio, Adriana; Klevan, Sarah; Kang, David
Research Alliance for New York City Schools
These appendices describe the matching process used to identify an appropriate set of comparison schools for use in the report evaluating Year 2 of the Expanded Success Initiative, "Changing How High Schools Serve Black and Latino Young Men." As described in Chapter 2 of the report, selecting schools similar to ESI schools to serve as a comparison group allows researchers to differentiate the effect of ESI from the effect of other factors that are simultaneously influencing schools district-wide. Appendices include the following: (1) Matching Process for Comparison Schools; (2) Analytic Method for Focus Group Transcripts; (3) Appendix C: Fidelity Rubric; (4) Appendix D: Intensity Rubric; (5) Appendix E: Focus Group Protocol for Principals and ESI Liaisons at ESI Schools; (6) Appendix F: "Supplemental Form" for Principals and ESI Liaisons; (7) Appendix G: Focus Group Protocol for Teachers at ESI Schools; (8) Appendix H: Focus Group Protocol for ESI Students; (9) Appendix I: Interview Protocol for Principals at Comparison Schools; (10) Appendix J: Focus Group Protocol for Teachers at Comparison Schools; (11) Appendix K: Comparison Rubric; (12) Appendix L: Survey Constructs and Items; (13) Appendix M: Survey Construct Analysis; (14) Appendix N: Survey and Academic Impacts; and (15) Appendix O: Student Discipline Outcomes.[For related reports see: "Changing How High Schools Serve Black and Latino Young Men: A Report on NYC's Expanded Success Initiative.
