Technostress Effect on Task Productivity in Radiologic Healthcare
Furniss, Richard D.
ProQuest LLC, Ph.D. Dissertation, Capella University
Long recognized as a form of maladaptation to Technology in work settings, the Topic of Technostress has garnered attention from numerous researchers in an attempt to both quantify and codify relationships and impact in the work setting. The intention of conducting research on the topic of Technostress was to build upon the current knowledge base on the topic and add to the knowledge base by evaluating the relationship between Technostress and individual perceived productivity among Radiologic Technologists. With more than 300,000 registered radiologic technologists among the membership of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), this unique population provided a wealth of knowledge and demonstrated a counterintuitive, and yet not unheard of in other research, direct positive relationship between Technostress creators and productivity. At total of 181 voluntary participants provided responses for this hierarchical linear regression study, evaluating the relationships between Technostress creators, Technostress inhibitors, individual characteristics, and institutional characteristics and the dependent variable of individual perceived productivity. The four phased analysis demonstrated statistically valid relationships between Technostress creators, Technostress inhibitors, and the individual characteristics of age and gender. No statistical relationships where found among institutional characteristics. [The dissertation citations contained here are published with the permission of ProQuest LLC.
