Students' Perceptions of Higher Education Quality at Notre Dame University-Louaize in Lebanon

Understanding how students perceive quality of education and identifying the most important quality factors from their perspectives represent a first stage for quality improvement and customer satisfaction in higher education. The purpose of this project was to investigate how higher education students in Lebanon perceived the concept of quality of education. Quality in higher education conceptualization models were identified based on the literature review. Existing models related to perceived quality served as basic frameworks to develop an inclusive set of quality factors to be investigated. Sixty-six quality items were adopted. Students' perceived importance of each of these sixty-six items was examined. Differences in perceptions were investigated for students of different years of study, Faculty of registration, and sex. The investigation was conducted at Notre Dame University-Louaize in Lebanon. Two-hundred students were surveyed. Results indicated similarities and differences among various categories of students. Surveyed students at NDU attributed the highest perceived importance to items under academic dimension. Results of the present project can enlighten the decisions making process of higher education leaders in Lebanon. This investigation helps in developing a better understanding of students' needs and in providing a better service based on students' perspective of quality of education.
