Identifying Effective Strategies to Providing Technical Support to One-to-One Programs

The problem of this study was that while one-to-one initiatives in the K-12 environment are growing, the technical support personnel that work in these environments are experiencing problems supporting these initiatives. The purposes of this study were to: (a) identify common problems of providing technical support in a one-to-one laptop program, (b) identify strategies that will help overcome the problems with providing technical support in a one-to-one laptop program, and (c) determine the effectiveness the strategies have on the technical support of a one-to-one initiative. This research was designed to be a descriptive study that uses data collection to answer questions about the status of technical support as it related to the implementation and support of one-to-one computing programs in K-12 schools. The study determined and reported the current status of the subject. The research identified current issues and determined what others were doing to mitigate similar problems in order to benefit from their experience in making future plans and decisions. A Delphi study was conducted with the expert panel. Data was collected using electronic methods including online survey tools and/or email. The Delphi study was accomplished in four rounds.
