D'Aurora, Shana
ProQuest LLC, D.Sc. Dissertation, Robert Morris University
The Community College Completion Agenda is the West Virginia Community and Technical College System's (WVCTCS) commitment to awarding 16,000 new degrees by 2015. With this new completion agenda the West Virginia Community and Technical College System has realigned its master plan, Meeting the Challenge 2010-2015. Its focus from primarily concentrating on student access was now broadened to include not only student access but also program completion. A way in which the community colleges can enhance their student persistence toward degree completion was to identify and evaluate at-risk students. Technology assists with this critical administrative task. The issue is a broad range of technical strategies and systems that exist throughout the WVCTCS with differing degrees of influence and impact on student retention and completion rates. The focus of this study is to first identify the technologies utilized for the purpose of retaining at-risk student population within the WVCTCS and their influence in enrolling these students in developmental courses.
