Catholic School Leadership: School Climate and Culture and the Influence on Principal Satisfaction

Today's Catholic educators face a very different world, creating a change in the role and responsibility of the principal. The purpose of this study was to determine to what extent the culture and climate affect satisfaction in the principal's role that warrants becoming and remaining a principal in today's Catholic schools. This purpose was addressed by analyzing school culture and school climate with respect to the Catholic educational setting and examining the changing role of today's Catholic school leader. The results showed no significant finding between satisfaction and school culture but there was a significant negative correlation between satisfaction and climate. Furthermore, there was evidence suggesting that Catholic school principals were more satisfied than their public school peers.
