This bulletin reports on research projects initiated in fiscal 1958 in the State departments of education and colleges and universities throughout the United States which were supported by the U.S. Office of Education. The purpose of this bulletin is to let interested school people and researchers know something about the research being supported by the Cooperative Research Program of the Office of Education in these categories: (1) research on the education of the mentally retarded; (2) development of students' special abilities; (3) retention of students in schools and colleges; (4) organization and administration of schools and colleges; (5) staffing the nation's schools and colleges; (6) educational problems resulting from population mobility; and (7) other aspects of education. At the close of fiscal 1958, 14 projects had been completed. Most of the research reported in this bulletin is still underway. Additional reports will be made when the projects are completed. Appended are: (1) Investigators on Cooperative Research Projects Contracted During Fiscal Year 1958; (2) Locations in which Research Projects were Initiated in Fiscal Year 1958; (3) Statistical Summary of Cooperative Research Program Activities: Fiscal Years 197 and 1958; and (4) Numerical List of Projects.
