This year's annual report of Philadelphia Youth Network (PYN) celebrates the continuing expansion of opportunities for high-quality education and career preparation available to Philadelphia youth. These opportunities--offered by an ever-growing set of partners and program providers--are present in neighborhoods and communities all across the City. This report--On the Map--presents a graphic representation of these opportunities. With more than 1,200 WorkReady Philadelphia worksites, five community-based E[3] Centers, six accelerated high schools for over-age and under-credited youth, eight Student Success Centers that promote high school graduation and college access, and dozens of contracted youth-serving organizations, PYN's continued progress in moving the City's youth-serving systems toward scale is increasingly evident. PYN's cartographic approach to representing PYN's work in 2008 also includes a look at the state-wide and national reach of its efforts. As more and more cities and regions seek to learn from its approach as an intermediary, PYN staff have begun to offer capacity-building services and continue to participate in peer-learning opportunities. By helping other areas learn from their experience, they also hone their own skills and bring back lessons learned in other places for local application. They continue to be honored by the opportunity to work with so many committed and caring individuals who manage programs, coordinate services and advocate for effective policies on behalf of Philadelphia young people, and we look forward to continuing our collective efforts on behalf of youth all across the City.
