High School Transition the "Link" to Success? The Effects of Participation in a Link Crew Transition Program
Lifsey, John Eric
ProQuest LLC, Ed.D. Dissertation, Trevecca Nazarene College
The transition from middle school to high school is a difficult time for many students. Students struggle in three areas: academics, social interaction, and school procedures. Statistics show that many students fall behind academically and are not promoted to the 10 th grade. Research also indicates schools who implement a well thought out transition program can overcome this transition phenomenon. This research study investigates the effects of a particular transition program by the Boomerang Project called Link Crew on the ninth grade class at a medium sized suburban high school. Factorial ANCOVA analysis indicated students involved in Link Crew showed significant positive differences in GPA and number of classes failed in the ninth grade as compared to those who did not.
