Exploring Reading First Program Implementation across Colorado Schools with Differing Achievement Results
Bonds, Darryl E.
ProQuest LLC, Ph.D. Dissertation, Capella University
This study is a mixed method examination of two elementary level Colorado Reading First Schools in Colorado Springs, Colorado. This study replicated a study conducted in two California Reading First elementary schools, in one Southern California School District. The purpose of the study was to examine whether there were differences in the implementation of the Colorado Reading First Program, and if there were, what factors are associated with failure, success, or overwhelming success. The results of the study found that there were few if any differences in the implementation of the Reading First Program in the two Colorado Schools. The most significant finding in the study was that stability in leadership is important for consistency of implementation.
