College by Subscription. Education Outlook. No. 9
Smith, Burck
American Enterprise Institute for Public Policy Research
Many students taking remedial courses in college are not doing well in them. A better approach is needed that will benefit not only students, but also taxpayers and the students who are footing the bill for unsuccessful instruction. A subscription-based model in which students can work at their own pace and get help from readily available faculty could improve outcomes and reduce costs. (Contains 1 table and 9 notes.)
