2006-07 Annual Report to the Ministry of Advanced Education
British Columbia Council on Admissions and Transfer
This report outlines accomplishments relative to items listed in the February 23, 2006 Management Letter from the Assistant Deputy Minister of Advance Education to the British Columbia Council on Admissions and Transfer (BCCAT). A major focus of BCCAT during this year was the redesign and launch of BCCAT.bc.ca, implementing a number of enhancements to enable users to navigate the site and locate publications and resources more easily, refreshing the overall look and feel of the site, and giving direct and prominent access to key web resources, Education Planner and BC Transfer Guide. The two sites were also updated to ensure harmonization and to promote recognizability of BCCAT resources for students seeking a variety of tools or information. Enhancements were added to BCTransferGuide.ca and EducationPlanner.bc.ca, enabling students to create personalized accounts for storing customized searches and plans. BCCAT moved forward in its consultation on the potential recalibration of the transfer system and expansion of the BC Transfer Guide. Through integration and collaboration with the Student Transitions Project (STP), the Council was able to take a more systematic approach to data collection, analysis, and reporting on student mobility: institutional data for BCCAT research is now being collected for the first time through the regular STP process, and all post-secondary institutions now regularly validate Personal Education Numbers (PENs) through the Ministry of Education for applicants and registrants. Eight appendixes are included: (1) 2006-07 Publications and Resources; (2) Campus 2020: BCCAT Submission; (3) Recalibration Consultation (Update); (4) Private Degree-Granting Institutions (Revised Policy); (5) Degree Recognition (Discussion Paper); (6) COU [Council of Ontario Universities] Statement; (7) Alberta/BC Transfer Protocol; and (8) PCCAT Terms of Reference (Draft.) (Contains 27 footnotes.) [For the 2005-06 Annual Report, see ED504940.]
