Institutional Trial Quality Audit of the University of South Africa (UNISA)
Commonwealth of Learning
This report presents the findings of the Trial Audit Panel (TAP) after studying a range of documentation before and during the audit and discussing issues with a wide range of University of South Africa (Unisa) staff during their visit to the University in June 2007. The original intention was to produce two reports, one in the format and language of HEQC executive summary reports and one providing more specific advice and suggestions. In the end, it proved difficult to disentangle the two approaches, so what resulted is a report comprising both aspects. The report contains 29 Commendations and 53 Recommendations. Contents include: (1) Executive Summary; (2) Overview of the Trial Audit; (3) Institutional Mission and Fitness for Purpose: The Role of an ODL Institution; (4) Equity and Transformation; (5) Linking Planning, Resource Allocation and Quality Management; (6) Teaching and Learning; (7) Arrangements for Quality Assurance, Development and Monitoring of Research; (8) Quality Assurance, Development and Monitoring of Research; (9) Community Engagement; (10) Benchmarking and Surveys; (11) The Graduate School of Business Leadership; (12) International Partnerships; (13) Note on Business Architecture; and (14) Summary of Commendations and Recommendations. Appended are a list of acronyms and a list of Trial Audit Panel members. (Contains 1 table.)
