RAND Corporation
A team of clinician-researchers from several institutions collaborated to develop, implement, and evaluate an intervention designed to help children traumatized by violence. Reported findings include: (1) Students who participated in the program had significantly less post-traumatic stress symptoms, less depression, and less psychosocial dysfunction; (2) Program was implemented successfully by school-based mental health clinicians; (3) Participating schools, located in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods, have a large percentage of Latino students, demonstrating the program's ability to reach poor and minority children; and (4) Program was welcomed by students, teachers, school officials, and parents.
