Focusing on Teaching: A New Perspective to Drive Teaching Quality. CenterView
Center for the Future of Teaching and Learning
This policy brief represents a professional consensus regarding the dimensions of teaching quality and the issues that need to be addressed if California is to ensure high quality instruction for all students. It is based on the work of an expert panel of education stakeholders who reviewed research, met with outside experts, and discussed in depth the issue of teaching quality. It suggests that California needs a teacher development system that is based on a common definition of teaching quality and which will ensure that all of the state's students have access to effective teachers. The components of such a system are already in place. (Contains 2 charts.)
