Closing the Expectations Gap, 2008. An Annual 50-State Progress Report on the Alignment of High School Policies with the Demands of College and Careers
This survey updates the efforts of all 50 states to align their high school standards, graduation requirements, assessments, and accountability systems with the demands of college and work. Thirty-two states have voluntarily joined the American Diploma Project (ADP) Network and are working to close the expectations gap that has left many young people unprepared for life after high school. States outside the Network are also taking steps to close the gap. States have made the greatest progress aligning their K-12 standards and graduation requirement with the demands of colleges and careers; progress on the alignment of high school assessments and K-12 data and accountability systems has been slower.
